Target Audience – governors from all Primary, Secondary, Special Schools & Academies

The Governance Handbook and new Governor Competencies document expect governing

boards to engage with parents to enhance pupils’ education, and to develop links with the local

community to support school improvement.

The session will consider:

• Examples of good practice and processes for the school and governing board in engaging

successfully with parents

• Developing governors’ engagement with the local community

• Considering the role of parent governors on the governing board
