Course description

 

Target Audience – governors from all Primary, Secondary, Special Schools & Academies

 

The aim of this session is to explore how governing boards can hold their school to account,

and get to know how their school is performing, by

 

• Distinguishing between monitoring and evaluation

 

• Exploring in some detail a number of key sources of evidence, including

– Head teacher reports and other professional advice

– Governors’ first-hand experience of the school

– Performance data

– Views of parents, pupils and staff

 

Delegates will consider how governing boards organisation and processes can be effective

tools to promote systematic challenge and support of the school.
