Target Audience – governors, clerks, headteachers from all Primary, Secondary, Special

Schools & Academies

For current and potential academy governors we introduce a course on the unique aspects of

being an academy board trustee and director.

The session will provide an overview of different academy structures, alternative professional

staff structures, and will explore the duties and powers of trustees, the schemes of delegation

adopted by academy boards and how these relate to local governance committees in

individual schools.

With a particular focus on the strategic skills and approach required of board directors, the

course will consider the level of information and reporting appropriate to oversight of a group

of schools.
