Report of this week's Local Tribunal 2/3/1916: brief details of the hearings including occupation etc but no names of applicants except for name of conscientious objectors. Richard Madeley, C o E, who was passed for Non-Combatant Service. Long description of dialogue including question as to what he would do his his mother was attacked; becoming a latrine orderly; he said he would do mine-sweeping. Tribunal member commented think he means what he said. He was exempted from Combatant Service. Newspaper reports he is the first CO from this district to appear.
