Southam Belgian Refugees". Household of 9 Belgian refugees arrived to house prepared in Ladbroke, lent by Mr. Hyatt. Contributions arranged. Committee defrayed whole of travelling expenses from Folkestone to Ladbroke. the Committee was therefore exceedingly annoyed to find that their Belgian guests had decided to return forthwith to the neighbourhood of Folkestone where they had obtained a more suitable offer".
