Police Court. Leamington Borough. "Folly of Treating Soldiers""Chief Constable and Earlier Closing of Public Houses". Long report of soldier belonging to the Brigade which came into Leamington on Friday who had been brought to the police station drunk and had committed an assault. Chief Constable asked for him to be punished as a warning to other soldiers in the town. Disgusted by behaviour of some men in town on Saturday. Mayor disappointed that local people offering them drinks. Chief Constable made representations to the Justice for earlier closing of pubs.
