Description of troops; condition of British horses compared to that of French horses. "The Government is looking after us first class and we have all had new underclothes and are being fitted out as fast as they can with new serge caps. Our Colonel's wife has sent us all a woollen body belt each, and there is always a good supply of tobacco and the food is perfect."
