Description
Correspondence. 3rd letter "The Refugees Fund". Letter from "A Sympathetic Ratepayer". Proposed a small rate be added to District Rate to cover temporary cost of town's hospitality which would meet with no opposition from ratepayers. "I hear ugly rumours on a religious basis. For my part and on the part of a charitably minded people, religion has nothing whatever to do with the case. It does not matter whether they are Roman Catholics, Protestants, Mohammedans, Buddhists or even Atheists, they are human beings who deserve all the help we can give them in their exception distress".
