Reported that Vicar of Leek Wootton was the one who announced in The Times his desire to present petticoats to shirkers. Quotes what he wrote in his parish magazine: "... To my regret I observe that young men are still playing cricket and football while their brothers are fighting and dying a the Front. These are the sort of people who would dance at their mother's funeral".
