Warwickshire Joint Standing Committee. Quarterly meetings. Sub-committee. Conscientious Objectors at Warwick Gaol. Reported that letter received from Committee on the Employment of Conscientious Objectors at the Home Office stating that from 5/10/1916 Warwick Prison will be used to accommodate conscientious objectors: they will live in the prison and for the most part work on the premises, though at a later date some may be sent to such work as may be arranged outside etc. Letter requested police intervention where necessary. Chief Constable had given undertaking but said cannot provide police as gate keepers as has only 2 sergeants and 8 constables for policing Warwick: there are 88 vacancies in the force and no recruits coming in.
