County War Savings Committee meeting 10 July at Shire Hall. Detail of scheme. Report on War Savings Associations (more than 100 in the county) created in rural and urban areas, school, quarries, stores etc. Comment that better response in villages than in mining district and factories. Explanation that factories overburdened by government work and difficult to get organisers. "Workers in factories had contributed large sums by deductions in their salaries, made by themselves, and they had contributed to everything except the actual fund for carrying on the war".
