Description

British Empire Union held meeting 8 July Market Square. Small audience addressed on aims of BEU. "Spoke of the "unseen hand at work in this country, which made it impossible to get rid of Germans and German things". Proposed immediate internment of all subjects of alien birth except the sons of servicemen or those whose sons in the Army (naturalised or unnaturalised), and of employers with German wives and German connections serving within the government".
