Greville House Club for Women & Girls opened in Portland Street for "the young ladies of the town to go and rest, read the newspaper and have a nice time, instead of wandering about the town as they might otherwise do" (quote from Lord Leigh. Bishop of Worcester letter quoted ".. The new movement for the employment of women which is coming over us with such a rush brings with it great dangers which might easily develop into national dangers ..."
